Wall Street jumps; S&P above 2000 for first time
FXStreet (San Francisco) - Historic day for the S&P 500 as the index traded above the 2,000 for first time. Overall, stocks rallied but it closed off highs; Nasdaq finished at maximum since Sept. 2000.
Investors' confidence was fueled by corporate deals as well as optimism that the ECB will take further steps to support the European economy.
The Dow Jones advanced 75.65 pts or 0.44% to finish at 17,076.87; the S&P jumped 9.52 pts or 0.48% to close at 1,997.92; while the Nasdaq added 18.80 pts or 0.41% to 4,557.35.
